On October 16, 2025, a collision occurred between an ICE vehicle and a truck driven by Leo Martinez, a volunteer with immigrant rights group VC Defensa, during an enforcement operation near 8th and A streets in Oxnard. ICE agents initially told police that Martinez's truck rammed their vehicle, but video footage released by VC Defensa showed an ICE Jeep striking Martinez's Nissan truck. Martinez was arrested by federal agents at the scene and taken to a federal facility in Los Angeles, where he was released the same day. The U.S. Attorney's Office declined to pursue charges.
