ICE Detains Long-Term Resident Under Wrong Immigration Law

Jovanni Paola Garcia-Aburto, who has resided in the United States since 1996, was arrested by ICE in Las Vegas, Nevada on March 24, 2026. The government detained her under 8 U.S.C. § 1225(b)(2), but the court found this violated immigration law since she had no prior ICE encounters.
