Honduran man detained by ICE; community raises $26,000 for legal defense

Gerson Turcios, a Honduran immigrant who owns a local landscaping business in the Rhinebeck area, was detained by ICE on June 23, 2026, while heading to work. A coalition called New York Neighbors Unite launched a fundraising campaign the following day that raised more than $26,000 by midnight to support his legal defense. Local residents describe Turcios as a warm, hard-working person who contributes to the community.
