Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents arrested approximately 1,514 people classified as "other immigration violators" (those without apparent criminal records) during the first nine months of 2025 in Northern California, a fivefold increase from 271 such arrests in all of 2024. Overall ICE arrests in the region reached 4,281 during this period, nearly double the total recorded for all of 2024, with street arrests climbing to 627 in September alone, comprising nearly three-quarters of all apprehensions. Over 2,500 deportations occurred during the first nine months of 2025, including a 6-year-old deaf child from Fremont who was deported along with his mother and younger sibling after attending a scheduled check-in with immigration authorities in San Francisco; the family had fled Colombia several years earlier while pursuing asylum.
