Omar de Jesus Bermudez Navarrete, a non-citizen from El Salvador who entered the United States in 2021, was arrested and detained by ICE agents outside his apartment building in San Francisco on July 17, 2026. Navarrete has no criminal record, filed an asylum application, received work authorization, and is the sole provider for his pregnant wife and two young children.
