ICE New York Operation Begins in Queens With Officials Warning
Jul 28, 2026 · Queens, NY
US Immigration and Customs Enforcement began a new operation in Queens on Monday, targeting people released after local jails declined to honor ICE detainers under New York's sanctuary laws. Officials warned the operation will produce collateral arrests, sweeping up bystanders and relatives who were never intended targets. The operation is expected to move into other parts of the metropolitan area and may run for more than a month.
