Alma Guadalupe Nunez-Quijada, a 45-year-old Mexican national who has lived in the U.S. since age 4, was arrested by masked ICE agents near the Pima County Consolidated Court Justice Court on Tuesday after attending a hearing for a noise-ordinance violation. The mother of three U.S. citizens was detained at cross streets adjacent to the courthouse. Her children told the Arizona Daily Star they do not know how ICE knew their mother would be there. An ICE spokesperson confirmed the arrest and said Nunez-Quijada has a criminal history including a domestic violence assault conviction from 2006, though KJZZ could not verify that claim; Pima County court records show she faced minor traffic charges in 2004 and a charge for failing to pay a fine in 2017.
