Tens of thousands of Haitian TPS holders face deportation after Supreme Court ruling

Aug 12, 2026 · Haiti

The Trump Administration announced in July 2025 that it would end Temporary Protected Status for Haiti, affecting approximately 330,000 Haitians living in the U.S. A federal judge initially blocked the termination in February, but the Supreme Court ruled 6-3 in June that the administration could proceed with stripping protections. Following the ruling, ICE began conducting enforcement actions including fitting Haitian workers with ankle monitors, while some employers fired TPS-protected workers.
