Since late August, nearly 500 detainees have been flown out of Seattle's Boeing Field by ICE, with flights increasing from one per week before the second Trump administration to around four or five per week now, according to King County records and the immigrant rights group La Resistencia. Detainees are often notified only the night before a flight, with communications cut off so they cannot alert lawyers or family, and many are moved just before scheduled court or bond hearings at the Tacoma detention center. Families held a press conference raising alarm, including a Seattle woman whose asylum-seeking son was flown out before his court hearing, and attorneys say the moves make it far harder for detainees to access legal counsel. Around 2,200 people have been arrested and detained at the Northwest ICE Processing Center from January to July, most with no criminal conviction and long-standing community ties to the region.
