In response, universities including UC Berkeley, UC Davis, UC San Diego, Purdue, and Santa Clara University paused or reconsidered non-mandatory CPT programs. UC Berkeley suspended Course Credit CPT applications while retaining Degree Requirement CPT for certain programs, and UC San Diego temporarily halted processing of all F-1 CPT applications. The changes created uncertainty for international students, including thousands from India and China, who rely on CPT to gain internship and work experience during their studies.
