ICE ordered to boost daily immigration arrests to 3,000 nationwide
Oct 8, 2026
ICE leadership instructed agents nationwide to increase daily immigration arrests by 1,000, returning to a goal of 3,000 arrests per day and about 19,000 per week. The directive comes amid an ongoing crackdown that saw ICE arrest over 51,000 people in August, a new monthly high, despite DHS denying the existence of formal quotas. Some Republicans have criticized the administration for increasingly arresting undocumented immigrants without criminal records.
