This represents an increase of approximately 171,000 deportations compared to the previous fiscal year, encompassing the final months of the Biden administration and the first months of the Trump administration. Nearly 167,000 of those deported had criminal records. The total falls short of President Trump's stated goal of removing one million people annually, though the agency is reportedly preparing for an ambitious removal target in the coming year.
