Danbury man with work permit and pending green card detained by ICE
Aug 27, 2026·Location: Danbury, CT

Danbury Mayor Roberto Alves said a 30-year resident of the city who held work authorization, paid taxes and was working toward permanent U.S. residency was among those detained during the ICE operation. "The folks doing it the right way are also getting deported. We can't stand for that any more," Alves said. Alves said ICE officers appeared to be engaged in racial profiling by targeting people in public spaces, an allegation DHS denied.
