ICE fast-tracks Batavia expansion to detain 100 migrant women amid medical care complaints

The Trump administration confirmed plans to spend up to $8.8 million to build a 'soft-sided' temporary detention facility in Batavia, NY to hold up to 100 migrant women arrested in New York and neighboring states. The expansion comes after New York banned local jails from housing ICE detainees. DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin also disclosed plans to add medical staff, including a dentist and nurses, after detainees complained of inadequate medical care at the facility.
