Aug 5, 2026Fresno, CA

He entered the United States in 2021 and obtained a work permit in 2022, which was renewed in 2024 and remains valid through 2029. Immigration authorities encountered him after the FBI executed a federal search warrant on August 5, 2026 at a residence in Fresno, California, and he was subsequently taken into immigration custody. He is currently held at the Golden State Annex Detention Facility. The court found that by granting him years of employment authorization, the government had sanctioned his continued presence in the country, giving him a protected liberty interest. The judge ordered that he be given a bond hearing within ten days, with the government bearing the burden of proving by clear and convincing evidence that he is a flight risk or danger to the community before he can continue to be held.
