Wilfredo Rivero, 24, was detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement on March 27 after arriving at the Sacramento ICE office to update his address for a pending asylum case. Rivero, who entered the U.S. legally in September using the CBP One app, was questioned for hours about his tattoos and possible gang affiliations before his family and attorney were told he was being detained. His girlfriend, Victoria Colmenero, said Rivero came to the U.S. to support his 4-year-old daughter and his sick mother, and that he has no criminal history in the U.S. or Venezuela. An ICE spokesperson confirmed his parole was revoked without specifying a reason, and Rivero was transferred to the Golden State Annex detention facility near Bakersfield to await removal proceedings.
