Cynthia Olivera, 45, was arrested by ICE agents after her green card interview in Chatsworth, California, while her husband, U.S. citizen Francisco Olvera, waited outside. Olivera, who was brought to the U.S. from Canada as a child and later had a 1999 expedited removal order issued against her, had worked legally under a Biden-era work permit and has three U.S. citizen children. She signed a form waiving her right to a bond or asylum hearing and agreeing to expedited removal, but weeks later remained in ICE detention in El Paso, Texas, with no deportation flight scheduled despite her husband's efforts to arrange one.
