Gerardo Pacheco Oliveros, a construction worker described by his daughter Arleth Pacheco as hard-working and supportive of his U.S.-born children, was detained by ICE agents while driving to work near Baseline Street in San Bernardino on January 23. Several vehicles followed and pulled over the car he was riding in with his brother; his brother was released after several minutes, but Pacheco Oliveros was taken without explanation. His family was unable to confirm his whereabouts for about two days before learning he was being held at the Adelanto ICE Processing Center's Desert View Annex. His daughter said he had no criminal record and was in the process of applying for residency, and the family has since struggled financially and is trying to secure his release on bond.
