Independent journalist Jalyssa Dugrot was covering a protest against ICE near a VA center on South Alameda Street in Los Angeles when LAPD officers kettled the crowd of protesters and press, then fired pepper bombs and rubber bullets as people scattered. LAPD declared the gathering unlawful and arrested all protesters and journalists present, including Dugrot, cuffing her, confiscating her phone and wallet, and questioning whether she could prove she was a journalist before releasing her. She reported that the protesters remained peaceful throughout, never turning violent despite the police response.
